Let me start by saying - if you’re after a budget Daytona with a few “buts”, this isn’t it.
This is one for someone who appreciates originality, completeness, condition, and knows these aren’t the examples found in the bargain bin.
This is the rarer reference 16523 Zenith Daytona “Inverted 6”, named, as the name suggests, because the 6 on the hour counter is upside down and looks like a 9.
Tiny detail to most people.
Very cool detail to Daytona people.
But the real pitch here is the set.
Original wooden Daytona box, outer box, books, papers, both swing tags and full link count. Not a pieced together set - the original set for the watch!
The wooden Daytona boxes alone are worth very good money these days, which is exactly why so many have been separated or swapped out over the years.
So yes, you can find a cheaper two-tone Daytona.
But you’re not buying this one because it’s the cheapest.
You’re buying it because it’s complete, correct, running perfectly and genuinely hard to replace. I don’t think we’ve seen an original set inverted 6 set like this in a long time!
