Made in a time where Rolex were heavily experimenting and producing things in vastly smaller quantities than they do today, this beautiful piece dates to around 1978.

The entire integrated case and bracelet is crafted from solid 18k white gold and powered by Rolex’s Calibre 1601 manual wind movement.

Then there’s the dial.

Electric blue. Turquoise. Depending on the light, a bit of both.

I can honestly say this could be one of a single digit number in the world with this configuration.

The reality is, it’s incredibly difficult to value something like this.

I’ve found only a handful of examples globally, with the cheapest being a fairly basic champagne dial example advertised at around $40,000 before shipping, duties and import costs.

At $32,000, I think this represents fair and reasonable value when you consider the rarity, the uniqueness, and the fact that it’s the same sort of money people are paying for a modern two-tone sports Rolex.

This isn’t for everyone.

But if you’re the sort of collector who enjoys owning things that almost nobody else has, it’s a pretty special piece.
