My Thoughts
Now this is a Cartier I can get excited about!
As much as I love the Tank Louis, the biggest problem with the vintage ones is that they’re often just too small. Not this one!
The Jumbo wears more like a 38–39mm round watch, goldilocks size for majority of wrists - and with that beautiful solid gold case, it’s got a heap more presence than you’d expect!
And the really interesting part - The 17002 is the only automatic Tank Louis of its era! Flip it over and you’ll notice the raised, almost bubble-shaped caseback to accommodate the movement. A pretty cool little detail that makes these immediately recognisable to anyone who knows their vintage Cartier.
Rare, unusual, and genuinely one of the more interesting vintage Tanks you can buy. Particularly nice to find one in Australia, and even better when it’s at least $5k cheaper like this even before any import duties and tax ordering from overseas!
