My Thoughts
This feels like a modern version of a true classic.
The design itself is about as timeless as it gets, but what IWC has done here is take everything that was lacking from the original 1970s Ingenieur and bring it completely into the modern day. Better movement, better water resistance, better everyday durability, better finishing, and a bracelet and case that still stay completely true to the original shape.
The ceramic is a huge part of that. It’s extremely hard, highly scratch resistant, and makes this something you can actually wear every day without constantly worrying about destroying the finishing. Ceramic is not an easy material to work with either, but there are no shortcuts here just to make production easier. The shape, the edges, the bracelet, the finishing - it all still looks like an Ingenieur should.
And then you get to the little details. Even the movement has been blacked out to match the watch. Exactly the sort of details why this feels so special.
